
Ken Brown

Ken Brown is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on municipal defense, insurance defense, construction and mechanics lien claims, land use, property claims, and business litigation. Ken has represented clients and businesses in claims and cases involving complex valuation disputes, high-stakes tort liability claims, and large-scale receivership operations. Ken has also represented developers in litigation with municipalities and owners in Weber, Davis, Salt Lake, and Sevier Counties. Ken has also represented clients in complex estate and trust litigation. Having grown up on a farm, Ken loves the time-honored practice of investing the patient work necessary to achieve targeted outcomes.
Having attended Utah State University for undergraduate studies, Ken graduated from University of California, Los Angeles School of Law in 2015. Following graduation, he clerked for the Second District Courthouse until March 2016 when he joined Smith Knowles, PLLC. Ken worked as an associate at Smith Knowles until February 2022, when he went to work at Snell and Wilmer’s Salt Lake City office. Ken loved his time at Snell and Wilmer but decided to come back to Smith Knowles in September 2023 to work closer to home and to be back in Ogden—a city that he loves.
Ken is married to Kristin Brown with whom he has four wonderful children: twins (girl and boy) born in 2015, a daughter born in 2021, and the caboose (another daughter) born in 2023. Ken’s highest priority is taking care of and spending time with his family. Ken is actively involved in his church, and also loves to read philosophy, poetry, and history. Ken is an avid runner, having set a goal to run one marathon every year.
